Universal Designs for Olympics
Unique and cleare icons for Winter Olympics
Through this challenge, I learned that simplicity is the most important in creating universal icons and designs that are recognizable to everyone. I examined the information about all of the Olympic games and, I chose winter games to create unique and new designs. The final designs will serve as a unique mark for the Winter Olympics.
Universal Designs
I tried to create functional pictograms as universal icons to represent each event in the Winter Olympics Games. Based on research, I draw over 100 sketches, and I tried several illustration styles to find appropriate designs. In this project, I learned to represent each game clearly and design using an effective graphic style.
Winter Olympic Games
I wanted to create unique and dynamic marks using positive and negative space effectively, and I decided to use the field of each sport to represent. I wanted to make a wide variety of designs, and I chose winter sports, such as curling, speed skate, halfpipe, and moguls.
My Challenge
I tried to simplify human shapes as much as possible without losing the cohesive style to match the bold composition of fields. I tried several sketches for each sport, and I decided on final designs.
